You can call in to the AT&T Bulldog Hotline number at 1-888-81-DAWGS (1-888-813-2947). Georgia begins SEC play with a 41-20 win over Missouri in the Tigers’ first ever SEC contest. Non-conference play returns this Saturday at Sanford when the Florida Atlantic Owls come to town for a 7:30 kickoff.Richt was unavailable tonight, so Coaches Bobo and Grantham joined Scott Howard on the Bulldog Hotline. Scott congratulates Bobo on the win. Bobo says it’s always good to get a win. Thought the kids played well, hung together in a difficult environment. Howard asks how you prepare the guys who haven’t been there before in that type of atmosphere and get them ready. Bobo says they used clips from other games in that stadium such as the game where they beat Oklahoma couple years ago. Help them understand they were going to have to focus and be able to communicate. The kids responded and played well the whole game.Scott also asks what Bobo’s mentality was over the course of the game. Bobo says you learn early on you can’t get frustrated. If you have to punt you can’t get frustrated and you have to stick to the plan. Might have to make a few adjustments and talk to the guys, but you’ve got to keep pounding and play your next play. And that’s what our kids did. There was a lot of focus in the locker-room at halftime. They responded well when we got down 10-3 right before the half and responded every time in the second half. Was real proud of that. They responded to adversity well and came through on top. And quite frankly that is something that we haven’t done much the last few years. Good to see.
Scott mentions Jarvis Jones has been named the Walter Camp National Player of the Week as well as the SEC Defensive Player of the Week. Bobo adds that he’s an unreal player. Incredible effort. Well liked by everybody on the team. Great, great Bulldog and a great person too.
Mike in Columbus says each and every time we needed an answer we got it and wants Bobo should stay aggressive in the gameplan. He’s one of the best coordinators in football. Bobo thought we were aggressive the whole game. Gives Missouri credit. You play good defenses in this league. Says the Georgia offense plays behind a good defense. You don’t want to do anything to put them in bad field position. That was the thing he stressed to the team today offensively. Real proud of how they answered the whole game. We changed the gameplan a bit to spread it out. They were keeping everybody in the box and we just let our inside receivers go to work on their linebackers and safeties. And the guys responded with good execution.
Scott Fernandez wonders if Gurley will get 15-20 carries a game because he’s looking like a veteran out there. Bobosaystheyare
